Drones and Planes is a labour of passion for me and it combines a few of my hobbies: plane spotting, photography and drone flying.
I was hooked on plane-spotting from the age of 7, when my Dad took me to Manchester Airport to watch the Tridents, BAC 1-11's and Tristars blast off from the runway. This was in the day when you could walk on the piers above the departure gates and Manchester Airport terminal had the huge balls of snot hanging from the roof inside of the building!
I had always marvelled how these huge behemoths managed to get airborne and was always envious of anyone who was a pilot for a living. It all just looked so glamourous and exciting.
Roll on a few years and I started getting serious about spotting again. I visited Stansted Airport regularly, started checking out Facebook and YouTube and all of a sudden I was hooked again.
I recently moved back to the North West of England, so now can be found at Manchester Airport quite frequently.
My passion for drones is a more recent thing. I've been a keen photographer for some years and the thought of being able to capture angles that were not previously possible really interested me. I bought my first DJI drone a few years back and have had lots of fun with it since. I'm still learning the trade with regards to the videography, editing, etc but I find the whole thing fascinating.
